SIXTH COLLEGE HISTORY

Sixth College was inaugurated by Yg. Honorable Tan Sri Abdul Samad Idris, Minister of Youth and Sports in June 1979. This college is the sixth residential college in Universiti Putra Malaysia.

At the beginning of the establishment, the hostel blocks were known as blocks A, B, C and D (670 students were inhabited). In the same year, the High School Student Committee (AJKPT) changed the name of the block to the Keranji, Salak, Cermai and Pomegranate blocks. The administration of this college is led by a principal and assisted by a manager as well as several fellows to guard the welfare of all residents.

Around 1988, an MSN athlete block (National Sports Council) was set up to put all students from amongst national athletes. UPM is the only college campus that provides various facilities to athletes and the Sixth College has been selected to place this MSN block.
